Science of solidification(Second and subsequent applications for courses in this fiscal year)
Online Education Course: “The Science of Solidification”(Applications for the second and subsequent courses this academic year)
【Overview】
The science and technology of solidification play a crucial role not only in the production of castings and wrought materials, their welding and joining, but also in Additive Manufacturing. We begin by covering fundamentals such as the curvature effect, nucleation, compositional undercooling and interface instability, and dendrite growth. Next, we explain microstructure selection (e.g., columnar and equiaxed crystals) and casting defects like macro segregation. We further outline rapid solidification phenomena. Finally, we introduce solidification phenomena in laser processes as a practical example and discuss the science of solidification and its applications.
For those unable to attend live or wishing to deepen their understanding, this course will offer on-demand lecture streaming after the event. Registered participants can view it at no additional cost.
